Dissidia Final Fantasy” is one of the hottest games in the arcade right now, and it seems like Square Enix continues to support it by adding new content. Aside from new maps, they continuously add new characters into the game. When it launched a few years back, it only included core heroes from the “Final Fantasy” series, but they’re slowly filling in the roster with both returning and new characters. We’ve seen antagonists like The Emperor and ExDeath return to the crossover fighting game, and now Square Enix has added a new character to the roster.

Ultimecia joins the fight

The “Dissidia Final Fantasy” arcade version will be getting Ultimecia from the eighth game in the mainline series as a playable fighter. This time witch appeared in both PSP games and acts as a mage who showers her foes with magical weapons. Similarly, she keeps her kit and play style in the arcade mode since she can set up traps and keep her enemies at bay with things like daggers, axes, and lances. With this in mind, it seems like Ultimecia will fall under the Marksman class with her wide arrange of spells.

This villain acts as the second representative of “Final Fantasy VIII” who opposed Squall and his friends in the game. While she didn’t exactly have a fleshed out personality, the “Dissidia” series gave her a cool and manipulative countenance.

Ultimecia will be included in the September arcade update and it’s still unsure if she’ll already be included in the upcoming console edition.

Beta is over

Incidentally, Square Enix recently held a closed beta for the PS4 version of the game that ran for roughly two weeks. The event started late August and just ended on September 5.

While everyone had the opportunity to sign up for it, Square Enix hand picked certain players to participate. Those lucky fans got to play as Warriors or Light, Firion, Onion Knight, Cecil, Bartz Klauser, Terra Branford, Cloud Strife, Squall Leonhart, Zidane Tribal, Tidus, Shantotto, Vaan, Lightning, and Y’shtola who each have their own unique play styles.

While the beta roster might seem limited, it seems like the developers will be adding more characters to the main game.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT” will be officially launching on the PS4 early this year on January 30.Square Enix has revealed a list of all the versions fans can choose from. However, the ultimate collector's edition is only limited to their online store. Those who pre-order from participating retailers can get a steel book copy that contains different designs of the cast.
