Bethesda Softworks made headlines recently following that mysterious “Game of Thrones” game spotted at Target. That has since been confirmed as not real but the gaming company may have a surprise coming up.
Bethesda will be busy the coming months with a number of games set to be released. At the top of the list is “Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus” plus some other virtual reality games which should keep gamers on their heels for the remaining months of 2017.
Bethesda has a surprise game
Pete Hines, the Vice President for Marketing at Bethesda, recently sat down with Tek Syndicate during PAX West.
He mentioned something about an unannounced game scheduled for release this year, details of which he has withheld.
Rather than give more clues, the Bethesda VP simply said that it won’t be long before the title of the mystery game comes out in the open. Gamers are now left to ponder whether it would be a new game being offered or a sequel to previous IPs under their umbrella according to Game Rant.
Bethesda Executive Producer Todd Howard mentioned earlier this year that three big titles are coming. But like Hines, Howard chose not to divulge much information either. The big titles that come to mind are “Elder Scrolls” and “Fallout 4 VR” but it looks like the gaming company has more game titles set for release.
Is it worth the wait?
Seeing how Bethesda already has a full plate of big game titles coming out, that mystery game could be simply an odd one in the mix. Apparently, gamers are more inclined to see follow-ups to hit games like "The Elder Scrolls" or “Fallout 4”, both of which are likely to be under development as we speak.
That surprise game could be another mobile game in the works, something similar to "Fallout Shelter".
With “Bethesda: Game of Thrones” taken out of the equation, a new mobile game could be something Hines is referring to. There are only a couple of months before 2017 comes to an end so the suspense may be over soon.
Was Hines playing?
Curiously, Hines came out with a tweet saying he probably had a concussion from the beating he took online.
He adds that he may be just rambling, meaning his claim may be nothing more than a way to escape from the attention.
I probably just had a concussion from the beating I took online and was rambling. Ignore.

Based on the responses to that tweet, such only got gamers all the more excited. @QuickDrawMcGraw even asked if it was a Skyrim: Paid Mods Backlash edition while others were not buying his accidental revelation.
Whether there is a mystery game coming or not remains to be seen. All gamers can do right now is wait and keep on guessing – hoping that the game is something worth all the excitement.
