Capcom had previously announced that it will be releasing its popular survival horror video game, "Resident Evil: Revelations," for the Sony PlayStation and the Microsoft Xbox One. The game itself was originally made available for the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console in 2012, which was then followed by a release for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. Due to popular demand, the company had decided to make the HD version of the game available to the latest generation consoles, which it has now revealed to be coming out this month.
More versions to come
Aside from revealing the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One versions' Release Date, Capcom also announced that it would be making the game available for the Nintendo Switch. The announcement contradicts Capcom's previous statement regarding the challenges they would be facing in making the game available on the newer console.
Change of plans
Back in January, during the launch of "Resident Evil 7," games producer Masachika Kawata previously mentioned that it would be tough for them to port the game for Nintendo's new console seeing as that it was apparently a "unique piece of hardware." Kawata's statement seemed to suggest that the company may have abandoned its plans to port the game for the Switch due to the technical challenges.
Fortunately, that is apparently not the case as Capcom officially announced that they would be releasing the game for the Nintendo Switch in "late 2017."
Physical and digital release
The PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One version of the "Resident Evil: Revelations" was officially announced back in March. Capcom hadn't announced its official release date during that time and instead published a brand new teaser trailer a few months later.
Now, the company has revealed that the game will be made available for both consoles on Aug. 29.
The game will also be made available as both a digital and physical product in Europe and North America. As of the moment, it isn't yet clear if the Nintendo Switch version will follow suit or if it would only be made available as an E-shop purchase.
"Resident Evil: Revelations" will have players take on the role of the series' protagonist Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. The game itself actually takes place between the events of "Resident Evil 4" and "Resident Evil 5." In the game, the operatives of the newly formed counter-terrorism group Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance must stop a terrorist organization from releasing a virus into the world's oceans and uncover the secrets that lie within the cruise ship Queen Zenobia in the Mediterranean Sea.
