The latest updates for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will feature the Soul Stone in its new gameplay trailer and more details for the sequel's story mode.
New gameplay trailer
Capcom streamed the latest gameplay trailer for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" featuring four new playable characters, a new stage, and the last Infinity Stone. The trailer featured Johnny Blaze's Ghost Rider teaming-up with "Ghost 'n Goblins" gargoyle Firebrand against the duo of the Dark Lord Dormammu and "Darkstalkers" main villain Jedah.
Ghost Rider was seen teaming with Morrigan Aesland in the sequel's story trailer at Gamescom 2017, while Dormammu and Firebrand were spotted in several comic book variants.
Jedah made his debut as a playable character during EVO 2017 along with Gamora.
The trailer also featured a new battle stage for the sequel called the "Dark Kingdom," a combination of the Dormammu's Dark Dimension and the "Darkstalkers" home world the Makai Kingdom. Players are introduced to the Soul Stone, giving them the ability to steal the life force of their opponent's health and its Infinity Surge can resurrect their fallen partner and assist them in a 2-on-1 beat down.
A new twist for Story Mode
Game Informer made several comments about "MVC: Infinite" during their hands-on gameplay experiences and stated that the additional characters in the sequel will play an interesting role in the story.
While the sequel will feature 30 playable characters from both universes, background characters like Master Meo, Dr. Light, and MODOK will provide some insight to support story's plot.
The video game website added that Monster Hunter is featured in Valkanda assisting Ryu, Hulk, and Black Panther against a huge boss monster.
When asked if the character will be added to the roster anytime soon, Capcom simply replied that they had nothing to announce.
The game's story mode will also feature several unique match types. At one point, players are tasked to destroy a series of Ultron sentries, while protecting a city. The sequel will have both on and offline game modes such as Arcade, Versus, Training, Ranked, and Casual matches.
There are also rumors that the DLC fighters for the game are Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Venom, and Monster Hunter, while a separate report claimed that X-Men and Fantastic Four could be added to the roster in the future DLC packs.
The game will launch on Sept. 19 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
