It seems like a big week for Microsoft as they revealed major information about the Xbox One X. The company reportedly gave a 90-minute presentation for their Gamescom 2017 event in Cologne, Germany. Along with their demonstration, games like “Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor” and “Assassin’s Creed Origins” were showcased for those in attendance. The company also flaunted their recent partnership with “PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds” (PUBG), which is one of the most popular shooters available in the market. The highlight of the press conference was their announcement of the limited Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition, pre-orders being available, and a tie-in program with Gamestop.
Xbox One X marketing partnership with GameStop
Gamescom 2017 attendees should note that the special edition Xbox One X Project Scorpio model will be limited. This particular variant flaunts a different graphic design on the console’s body and controller. The package will include an official stand to keep the game system stable when stood upright.
Microsoft's trade-in deal with GameStop allows customers fork over their other consoles to get a discount for the brand new game system’s price. A PlayStation 4 Pro and Nintendo Switch will knock off $200 USD from the One X’s $500 USD price. Trading in a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One S shaves $150 USD off, while the original Xbox One gets $100 USD discounted in total.
Promotional period start date
Fans should not get too excited for the GameStop trade-in deal just yet. The deal does not actually start until the Xbox One X’s launch on November 7, 2017. Those interested cannot take advantage of the promotion until the flagship game system becomes available. The full disclosure reveals that the special offer will only last until November 19, 2017, which only gives consumers a few days to make their decision.
Game Rant also notes that the video game retailer would have on-hand stocks available on day one as well.
Online leaks finally confirmed by announcement
Prior to its official announcement, the Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition was allegedly leaked a few days back. Other than the subtle “Project Scorpio” text design on the limited version, the specifications are the same with the regular model.
However, the free vertical stand, one month Xbox Game Pass, and an Xbox Live Gold 14-day trial card make it an attractive offer for most folks. Gamescom 2017 is now under way and gamers await more news regarding Microsoft and its new flagship game system.
