As promised, highly acclaimed developer of “Kingdom Hearts 3”, Square Enix, has shown a stunning new gameplay trailer at the D23 Expo this weekend. It also revealed the long rumored “Toy Story” as the new world to join other big Disney films, “Tangled,” and “Big Hero 6” in the game.
2018 release date
The trilogy has finally got a generic 2018 release date as many had guessed prior to the Disney-centric event. This somehow made the fans happy that they’d be getting their hands on the insanely popular JRPG next year.
It would have been better to see a solid release date set in stone but Square Enix must be giving itself an ample time to iron out some kinks before its big release.
The trailer further confirmed that it is coming to both Microsoft and Sony’s current-gen consoles, Xbox One and PS4.
New world
The brand new gameplay trailer started off with a footage of confirmed worlds along with a text. After which, Sora, Donald, and Goofy found themselves in Andy’s room. The three were all surprised to see how they turned into a toy-sized figure and then jumped into battle with the Heartless.
Then, the trio met the main characters of “Toy Story,” Woody, Buzz Lightyear and few others. But it got more interesting in the succeeding scene when the toys had to exit out of the room’s window to join Sora and the gang to look for their lost friends.
This was the part that revealed a host of big new features and changes in the game as the full action began outside.
No party cap
While players are no longer required to swap out party members as first shown in the Orchestra trailer, there might be no more limit on the number of party members in the game. In the new teaser, Woody and Buzz bought fought alongside Sora, Donald, and Goofy.
Party cap or not, the trailer is hinting that all seven Guardians of Light, including Sora, will fight together at some point in the game.
Skydiving move
Fans also saw Sora showed off the same skydiving move seen in the last month’s trailer, not just once but twice in the latest footage. This could mean that a move won’t be specific to a particular scenario but will now depend on the combat.
Hyper Hammer form
The sneak peek also revealed Sora’s new power form while on a ground combat and via a command, Sora's Keyblade transformed into a Hyper Hammer.
Other keyblade transformations like the Double Arrowguns and the Magic Launcher were teased in the all new D23 Expo trailer once again.
The "Kingdom Hearts 3" trailer capped off by revealing the Galaxy Toys as an exciting addition to combat. Via a command, Sora was able to ride and hack the gigantic robotic toys that were fighting in the battle with the villainous Heartless.
