Many have called “The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild” the best of the bunch. The game does breathe new life into the series by doing away with many of its core tenets and embracing more modern open-world games while adding that special layer of Nintendo charm and polish. But the publisher is far from over. The latest addition to the new title is its Hard Mode (Master Mode overseas), and it will have its very own save slot, Nintendo confirmed.

The Nintendo U.K. website indicates there will be a different save slot for the mode, which is part of the first DLC pack for the game called “The Master Trials.” However, it will only have two save spots, unlike the normal game that has six.

Who’s up for a challenge?

In the upcoming expansion’s Hard Mode, players get to fight stronger enemies, and they are said to be better at detecting when players try and sneak up on them. These enemies also regenerate health during your battles, and according to Nintendo, new enemies should be expected, something that players have not seen yet in “Breath of the Wild.”

With the mode having a separate save slot, players won’t have to worry about overwriting files. Once the DLC launches, saving the Hard Mode campaign and keeping original data is possible without having to create a new profile on your Nintendo Switch or Wii U.

In a nutshell, one can try out the Hard Mode just to see how things go, then go back to finishing off the regular campaign first.

‘Master Trials’ DLC

One of the best aspects of "Breath of the Wild" is the excellent combat. There are dozens of ways to take down any given enemy, and the game encourages your exploration of those options.

Along with the new Hard Mode, the expansion will include “Trial of the Sword,” a survival-like gameplay mode where players start without any weapons or armor but must defeat opponents in each room to progress.

Also included is “Hero’s Path,” which tracks every move players make across Hyrule. This allows for easy understanding of the map, especially in areas players haven’t explored yet. The DLC also includes new armor, a mask that detects nearby Koroks, and other goodies.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s” new add-on is out June 30.

The next DLC, titled “The Champion’s Ballad,” is due for release this winter. The expansion will somehow involve the four Champions — Daruk, Mipha, Revali and Urbosa — although more details on that are still forthcoming. New Amiibo figures based on the four Champions are also in the works.
