Following their Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) showcase, Naughty Dog released an extended gameplay trailer for their upcoming game, "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy," which is scheduled to be released this coming August.

The latest look at the studio's upcoming action-adventure game shows us plenty of action-packed combat, as longtime Uncharted fan favorite Chloe Frazer takes the role of lead protagonist. She'll be joined on her journey by Nadine Ross, who was introduced as a villain in "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."

Extended gameplay trailer for 'The Lost Legacy'

If you haven't seen it already, you can check out the extended gameplay trailer for "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" in the video below.

A lot of what you'll see is stuff that we already saw at E3. However, there is plenty of new stuff in the trailer as well. So, go ahead and check it out!

The game is being billed by Naughty Dog as a standalone adventure, and is rumored to be between 10 and 12 hours long. Originally, this was supposed to be a side story for "Uncharted 4," but for one reason or another, things changed, and now we're getting a full-on Uncharted game with Chloe as its protagonist.

'Uncharted' without Nathan Drake

"The Lost Legacy" will be the first game in the Uncharted series that doesn't feature Nathan Drake as the protagonist. In fact, most assume that he won't be in the game at all, as his story was wrapped up in "Uncharted 4."

Uncharted games without Nathan Drake could become a thing for Naughty Dog, as the creative director for "The Lost Legacy" recently told Euro Gamer that they have considered doing a story with Victor Sullivan and Charlie Cutter.

He also said that "The Lost Legacy" probably won't be the last Uncharted game that the studio ever makes, so it looks like we're not at the end after all.

What's next for Naughty Dog?

When "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" is released for PlayStation 4 on August 22nd, expect the entire Naughty Dog team to move on to developing "The Last of Us: Part 2." So, it could be quite a while before we see another Uncharted game, as "TLOU 2" probably won't be released until late-2018 at the earliest.

Some are even predicting that the title will be held off until the next console generation, which doesn't seem likely.

We do know that the multiplayer data from "Uncharted 4" will be carried over to "The Lost Legacy," so you should probably expect a few online updates throughout the next year or so. But, don't expect them to announce a new Uncharted game before "The Last of Us: Part 2" is released.
