Ubisoft has just unveiled its brand new mobile game entry for 2017 with the return of the "Assassin's Creed" franchise to smartphones. The brand new game, titled "Assassin's Creed Rebellion," has been revealed to be a free-to-play role-playing strategy mobile game that is quite different from any of Ubisoft's other mobile titles.

Different gameplay and art style

Based on the recently released teaser trailer (found below), the upcoming new mobile RPG will sport an entirely unique art style for the franchise. The game's developer, Behaviour Interactive, has incorporated a "Chibi" art style, which utilizes a "super deformed" style of drawing characters.

The characters sport oversized heads with short bodies, which basically makes them look like child versions of their counterparts.

The gameplay mechanics look to be very similar to Bethesda's "Fallout Shelter" mobile game, where players will have to help build and organize a structure as their base of operations. Instead of having a shelter to house survivors, players will be building their own "Brotherhood HQ," where they will be able to unlock or craft new equipment, prepare for missions, and access different skills for assassins. Combat and missions seem to take place in side-scrolling 2D stages, where stealth and strategy will still be at play.

New characters

Ubisoft has revealed that there will be a total of 40 Assassins that will be accessible throughout the game.

Different assassins will have different skill sets and abilities. Selecting the best ones for specific tasks will be part of the challenge.

Among the 40 characters will be familiar faces from the different "Assassin's Creed" titles, including fan favorites such as Machiavelli, Ezio, Shao Jun, Aguilar, and Claudia. However, half of the roster of characters will be completely brand new and have been created specifically for the mobile game.

Game details

As per the game's official announcement, "Assassin's Creed Rebellion" will be taking place in 15th century Spain, at the height of the Inquisition. Players will be tasked with building and maintaining their new guild by building a new Brotherhood HQ. Missions will include loot gathering, assassinations, and more.

Additional assassins can be unlocked by collecting DNA fragments within the game's main story campaign and legacy missions.

"Assassin's Creed Rebellion" will be made available for Android devices running Android 4.1 or higher and iOS devices running iOS 8 or higher. The game is currently in development, but Ubisoft has mentioned that they will be announcing its worldwide release very soon.
