Fans of the much awaited “Red Dead Redemption 2” will have to hold their breaths a little while longer. The sequel that’s slated to arrive on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 had been pushed to spring 2018, much to the disappointment of enthusiasts. Rockstar Games said the team needs more time for the game to be ready for the current-gen consoles, which is why it decided to postpone the original fall 2017 release window.
“We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready,” Rockstar said in its official blog post.
And yet, a lot of fans have expressed that the delay isn’t really a surprise, considering the studio has had a memorable history of pulling off the same thing before.
Rockstar’s delays
While it’s quite normal for studios and developers to tone down on details regarding an upcoming game, Rockstar Games may have taken it to another level by laying low since October 2016 – the development team hadn’t said a word since the teaser trailer was revealed then. What’s more, its other games have gone through the same thing – the most recent of which is “Grand Theft Auto V,” which the studio deferred before it landed on Xbox 360 and PS3.
“GTA V” eventually became a massive hit, which is hopefully what “Red Dead Redemption 2” will turn out to.
As if to make up for this rather unexpected announcement, the studio managed to release some spectacular screenshots. It’s delightful and effective in keeping the hype up for the months' fans will be kept waiting.
For the uninitiated, “Red Dead Redemption 2” is the sequel to 2010’s “Read Dead Redemption,” Rockstar’s epic tale of revenge in the fading frontier of the Old West.
It’s been called one of the best open world games, and already, a multitude has high hopes for the follow-up.

RDR2: What’s known so far
The recently dropped screenshots are now all over the web and continue to hint out on what fans should expect.
However, it’s unclear whether the game’s protagonist, John Marston, will return. From the stills, the featured figure is shown either silhouetted or with his face covered, and often, he is shown with companions. Twitter is now heavy with speculations, with fans saying that the main character could have companions all throughout.
Another favorite still is that of two ornate pistols (shown above), although the character(s) gripping them are yet to be exposed. For now, these are what fans have been offered to keep them anticipating. It’s safe to assume Rockstar will be announcing more details on “Red Dead Redemption 2” soon.
