Macaroni and cheese, chocolate, and ice cream are comfort foods for many Americans but not for all people around the world. There are other foods that help people eliminate stress and feel better.
No matter what the food is, most comfort foods provide satisfaction for the person eating it. At the time, the person doesn't care if it is full of calories, has a high carbohydrate level, or a fat content. The habit of eating comfort foods is a response to emotional stress which happens no matter where people live.
1. Brazil: Pão de queijo
Pão de queijo is a Brazilian cheese bread.
The balls can be eaten as snacks or for breakfast along with other foods. They are easy to make with flour, milk, eggs, and cheese. If you don't want to make them yourself or travel to Brazil to get some, you can head to Red Lobster and order their cheese biscuits for a reasonable facsimile.
2. Canada: Poutine
Poutine shows up on every list of comfort foods. That because even though the dish was originated in Quebec, it is loved by millions around the world. It is made with crisp, salty French fries covered in melted cheese and hot gravy. Canadians swear that the food cures hangovers and provides comfort to those who are depressed.
2. France: French onion soup
French opinion soup is a comfort food for the French.
They find it both comforting and delicious all through the year. The onion-filled broth can have croutons mixed in and be topped with melted cheese.

3. Iceland: Rice pudding
Natives of Iceland are just like natives every place else.
They desire relief from stress and anxiety on bad days. Therefore, they head to the kitchen for something to eat that will give them comfort. Households favor Icelandic rice pudding. It is a sweet dish made with rice, sugar, and cream. Some versions call for raisins to be mixed in or topped with other fruits such as cranberries.
5. Ireland: Irish stew
A hearty bowl of Irish stew comes in handy on a winter or rainy day. It is just what hits the spot when one is not feeling up to par emotionally. The dish is easy to make and there will probably be leftovers for another time.
Irish stew is made with lamb, potatoes, onions, salt, and black pepper. The ingredients are cooked slowly in its own broth. The good thing about this dish is that you don't have to live in Ireland or be a native of Ireland in order to make and enjoy it.
From the dishes described above, you can see that comfort foods around the world are much different from the comfort foods in the United States. Even so, they bring comfort to consumers no matter where they live.
