The first vegetarian and meat-free restaurant in the United States is looking forward to expanding its stores to other locations. Amy’s Drive Thru restaurant is doing its best to fulfill its goal to open chains across the country, Fast Company reported.

Paul Schiefer, the director of operations of Amy’s Drive Thru, said it has plans to open five more locations in 2018. According to the website, new branches are being built over an abandoned structure in Corte Madera, and more in Northern California.

The vegetarian restaurant sits alongside the leading fast food chain giants in Rohnert Park, California.

Around the vicinity, customers can find Burger King, Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, and In-N-Out Burger, Fast Company noted. This restaurant seemed to be the odd-one-out among the group since it serves organic and gluten-free food options to its loyal patrons.

Two years ago

Two years after it first opened in a small California town, Amy’s Drive Thru has earned quite a number of health-conscious fans who are watching over their diets. Now, it is looking forward to serving more people as it expands across the United States.

Amy’s Drive Thru is the fast food version of Amy’s Kitchen, which is a family-owned restaurant that has existed for around 29 years. It serves family-style, vegetarian frozen meals such as burritos, organic burgers, and salads.

Their food choices on the menu are entirely hand-made in three major facilities in Idaho, California, and Oregon, according to Fast Company. The raw ingredients are all taken from organic sources, and the recipes are inspired by the classic styles of the parent restaurant.

“We believe that cooking was meant to be done by hand.

That’s why our burritos and enchiladas are hand-rolled. Our pizza crusts and tortillas are hand-stretched. Our pizza toppings are placed by hand, and our cheese is sprinkled by hand,” the restaurant said in their official website.

Food choices

Customers can begin their meals with the restaurant’s organic salad filled with seasonal carrots, purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes, lettuces, roasted yellow beets, candied pecans and goats cheese.

Their super salad bowls are tossed with quinoa, hummus, baked tofu, pumpkin seeds, carrots, cabbages, and more.

Available dressings are Balsamic vinaigrette, raspberry vinaigrette, and ranch. They also serve gluten-free and organic burgers, organic burritos, organic chili and fries, and cinnamon rolls.

Pizza varieties are also available, such as cheese and Margherita flavors. The official website added, “Amy's Drive Thru is returning to the roots of American fast food, serving lovingly handcrafted food to nourish hard-working citizens, busy families, and road-weary travelers.”
