Papa John’s instantly becomes an advocate for good health when it reportedly launches a gluten-free pizza this week, Refinery29 reported.

Renowned pizza restaurant Papa John’s debuts its very own “Ancient Grains Gluten-Free Crust” this week. According to its official website, the pizza crust is made with quinoa, amaranth, teff and sorghum ingredients.

These just make it deserving of its name “Ancient Grains,” the article noted.

The “Ancient Grains" is a thin and crunchy pizza crust with a unique, delicious flavor, the report added.

Papa John’s newest offering

The official website of the company described what pizza fans can expect from their new product on the line.

“Created from never-frozen dough and ancient grains, including Quinoa, Sorghum, Teff and Amaranth, our new healthy Crust With Ancient Grains is thin and crispy with a distinct sumptuous flavor,” Papa John’s stated on its website.

The new variety of pizza of the company is reportedly part of its Clean Label collection. The Clean Label collection takes away artificial flavors and synthetic colors from its food items, include preservatives, flavor enhancers, hydrogenated oils, cellulose and corn syrups that are high in fructose.

“Throughout 2016, the restaurant celebrated significant Clean Label milestones, starting Papa John’s first pizza delivery chain to announce the removal of artificial flavors,” the website noted further.

Aside from its pizzas, the restaurant also started offering naturally grilled chicken toppings, chicken poppers and egg ingredients without injected antibiotics.

The company stated that these breakthroughs reflect their commitment to menu transparency and their financial investment that reaches around $100 million yearly.

Disclaimer for customers

Refinery29 noted that Papa John’s reminds customers to seek judgment when ordering their new pizza flavors. The pizza chain noted in the website that the new flavor is not for customers diagnosed with a severe gluten intolerance or celiac disease.

Furthermore, it has also been noted that there are other pizza companies that have more natural products on their menu. These companies reportedly include Domino’s and leading restaurant Pizza Hut.
