Every year, teams have the option to non-tender arbitration eligible players if they no longer wish to have them on their roster. This year, more players were non-tendered than you'd usually see as teams across the league suffered major financial losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in no fans in the seats. The following players are now free agents as they were non-tendered by their respective teams.

1

Adam Duvall- OF/DH

In 57 games played in the 2020 season, Duvall slashed .237/.301/.532 with 16 HR, 11 of those coming in the month of September. A team with an opening at their designated hitter slot could pursue Duvall.

2

Hanser Alberto- 2B/3B

Alberto slashed .283/.306/.393 with 62 hits over 30 strikeouts. He was projected to earn between $2.3-$4.1 million.

3

Albert Almora Jr- CF

Almora Jr slashed .167/.265/.200 with just five hits in 25 games.

4

Jose Martinez- 1B/OF/DH

Martinez had a disappointing year slashing .182/.265/.295 in 34 games. He's best suited to play in the AL as a designated hitter.

5

Kyle Schwarber- OF/DH

Schwarber had a down season slashing .188/.308/.393 with 11 HR in 59 games.

6

Ryan Tepera- RP

In 21 games pitched, Tepera posted a 3.92 ERA with 31 strikeouts over 17 hits for an opponent average of .227 in 20.1 innings pitched. He was projected to earn somewhere between $1.2-$1.5 million if tendered a contract.

7

Nomar Mazara- RF

Mazara slashed .228/.295/.294 with a home run in 42 games.

8

Carlos Rodon- SP

The oft-injured Rodon pitched in just four games in 2020 recording a 8.22 ERA. A rebuilding team could take a shot on the former first-round pick.

9

Archie Bradley- RP

In 2020 split with the Diamondbacks and Reds, Bradley pitched in 16 games recording six saves and an ERA of 2.95.

10

Curt Casali- C

Casali slashed .224/.366/.500 over 31 games. He was projected to make anywhere from $2-$2.4 million.

11

Brian Goodwin- OF

In 2020, Goodwin spent time with the Angels and Reds where he slashed .215/.269/.417.

12

Delino DeShields- CF

A year after trading for him, the Indians decided to let go of him. He slashed .252/.310/.318 in 37 games.

13

Tyler Naquin- OF

In 40 games, Naquin combined to slash .218/.248/.383.

14

David Dahl- OF

The former first-round pick slashed .183/.222/.247 in 24 games. Any team that picks him up gets to control him for four more years.

15

Tony Wolters- C

Wolters played in 42 games slashing .230/.280/.290 with a total of 23 hits with only four of them going for extra bases (all doubles).

16

Maikel Franco- 3B

Appearing in every single game, Franco slashed .278/.321/.457 with 38 RBI and 62 hits. This is the second year in a row that Franco has been non-tendered.

17

Matt Andriese- P

In 16 games, Andriese posted a 4.50 ERA and an opponent average of .184. Projected to make between $1.8-$2.8 million, it's surprising that the Angels, a team annually in need of pitching, decided to non-tender him.

18

Kenyan Middleton- RP

In 13 games pitched, Middleton struggled to a 5.25 ERA over 12 innings. He was projected to earn just $1-$1.1 million.

19

Hansel Robles- RP

Robles had a 2020 to forget. In 18 games, he recorded an extremely ugly 10.26 ERA with an opponent average of .284. Having success in previous seasons, he could be a bounceback candidate.

20

Ryne Stanek- RP

Stanek had a 7.20 ERA in nine games. He was projected to earn just $800,000.

21

Alex Claudio- RP

In 20 games, Claudio had a 4.26 ERA with an opponent average of .243.

22

Playing in all but three games in 2020, Rosario slashed .257.316/.476 with 13 HR.

23

Jonathan Holder- RP

In 18 games, Holder posted a 4.98 ERA with an opponent average of .281.

John Brebbia- RP

Brebbia didn't pitch at all in 2020 as he underwent Tommy John Surgery. In three years in the big leagues, he holds a 3.14 ERA with an opponent average of .212. A team that's a year or two away from contention could sign him to a two-year deal. The Indians could be a fit. [image source: Johnmaxmena2-Wikimedia Commons]

27

A.J. Cole- P

In 24 games, Cole put up a 3.09 ERA and an opponent average of .226. He was projected to earn between $800,000-$1.1 million if tendered.
