On Tuesday, the NBA announced their All-Rookie teams. The complete voting results can be found on NBA.com.
Center Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks was named to the All-Rookie Second Team. He was one of the few reasons for Knicks fans to tune in this past season after a tumultuous 17-65 season.
Here is how Mitchell Robinson and the previous 10 All-Rookie members from the Knicks fared during their rookie seasons. While New York hasn't had all that much success in recent years, they have had an All-Rookie member five of the last six seasons and seven of the last nine.
2018-19: Mitchell Robinson (Second Team)
Drafted 36th overall in 2018, Robinson proved to be quite the second round find. He finished second in the league averaging 2.4 blocks despite only averaging 20.6 minutes per contest. He also finished with averages of 7.3 points (on 69.4 percent shooting from the field) and 6.4 rebounds. Daily Knicks recently gave Robinson an A- grade for his work in the 2018-19 season.
2016-17: Willy Hernangomez (First Team)
Also a second round pick (selected 35th overall), Hernangomez recorded 11 point/rebound double-doubles during his rookie year. He started 22 of his 72 appearances and posted per game averages of 8.2 points and 7.0 rebounds.
2015-16: Kristaps Porzingis (First Team)
Porzingis was the fourth selection in 2015 and finished as the runner-up for Rookie of the Year behind Karl-Anthony Towns. In 72 games, the 7-3 power forward averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks.
2014-15: Langston Galloway (Second Team)
Undrafted, Galloway was called up to the Knicks from the G-League in early January of 2015. He started in 41 of his 45 appearances and ended the year averaging 11.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.2 steals.
2013-14: Tim Hardaway Jr. (First Team)
The 24th pick in 2013, Hardaway Jr. reached double figures in scoring in 40 of his 81 games as a rookie. The season ended with him averaging 10.2 points while connecting on 36.3 percent of his three-point tries.
2011-12: Iman Shumpert (First Team)
Selected with the 17th overall pick in 2011, Shumpert played an average of 28.9 minutes per outing in his rookie year. He went on to average 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals.
2010-11: Landry Fields (First Team)
Fields started 81 of 82 games during his rookie season of 2010-11 despite being a second round choice (39th overall). He easily exceeded expectations in his rookie year averaging 9.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and a steal.
2005-06: Channing Frye (First Team)
Frye was taken eighth overall by the Knicks in 2005 out of Arizona. He was one of the better bench scorers in the league during his first year as he averaged 12.3 points along with 5.8 rebounds.
1988-89: Rod Strickland (Second Team)
Strickland was able to carve a role right away with the Knicks after he was taken 19th overall in 1988 despite sitting behind Mark Jackson on the depth chart. He averaged 16.8 minutes a contest to go along with his per game averages of 8.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 steals.
1987-88: Mark Jackson (First Team)
Selected with the 18th pick in 1987, Jackson was named the league's Rookie of the Year. His 10.6 assists per game were good for third in the NBA, but he also impressively averaged 13.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.5 steals (sixth in the league).
1985-86: Patrick Ewing (First Team)
Also a winner of the Rookie of the Year, Ewing was a force at Georgetown and taken with the first overall pick by New York in 1985. Appearing in 50 games, the current Hall of Famer went on to average 20 points, nine rebounds, and 2.1 blocks during his excellent rookie year.
