Michigan State opened their Big Ten season with a win over a surprisingly game Rutgers team. The Spartans ended up winning the game 78-67. There were a number of players that stood out for both squads.

Cassius Winston (Michigan State)

The Spartans' guard had himself yet another good game in what has been a fantastic season. Winston scored 22 against Rutgers while also dishing out six assists.

Eugene Omoruyi (Michigan State)

The Rutgers forward led his team in scoring and rebounds. He scored 16 against one of the best teams in the conference while also hauling down 11 rebounds.

Nick Ward (Rutgers)

Ward was one of two Spartans who scored 20 points on Friday night. Ward also got five rebounds.

Xavier Tillman (Michigan State)

Tillman has spent the season coming off the bench so far. On Friday night, he scored 11 points off the bench while also bringing down eight rebounds.

Peter Kiss (Rutgers)

The shooting guard for the Scarlet Knights was actually a little off on Friday night, but he still managed to hit 3-of-9 from beyond the arc and scored 11 points.
