He needs help: Celebrities react to the Trump-Kanye meeting in the oval office

Critics described the Chicago rapper's televised visit to the White House as 'embarrassing' and 'an act of desperation.'

The meeting

President Trump invited rapper Kanye West for a scheduled luncheon at the White House on Thursday (Oct 11). The pair were to discuss prison reforms, African American employment, the creation of manufacturing jobs, and gang violence in Chicago, among other things. Although they dined privately, critics have described the televised portion of the meeting as, “disgraceful,” “embarrassing,” and “cringe-worthy.”

Curtis James Jackson, aka 50 Cent

The rapper, who recently signed a multi-million dollar deal with Starz, shared a Superman-inspired sketch of Trump and Kanye on Instagram and captioned it with his famous tagline, “get the strap.”

T.I. : ‘I’m officially done’

The rapper shared his thoughts via social media. Kanye’s friend and long-time collaborator said, “This s*** is next level...Django a** s*** Ye,” he added, “This is the most repulsive, disgraceful, embarrassing act of desperation, and auctioning off one’s soul to gain power.”

Now I’ve been extremely patient and made it a point to not jump to any premature conclusions about Ye’& his antics... Partially due to the lessons learned from the outcome of other similar situations dealing wit my brother Wayne (which I admittedly mishandled a bit in hindsight) But now this shit is next level, futuristic Sambo,Hopping Bob, Stephen off Django ass shit Ye!!!! From what I can gather... This is the most repulsive, disgraceful, Embarrassing act of desperation & auctioning off of one’s soul to gain power I’ve ever seen. Now I recall you asking me to come with you to have this meeting and I declined (naturally)... but bro... if ain’time I would’ve been in there wit you and you behaved that spinelessly in my presence,I feel that I’d be compelled to slap de’Fuq outta you bro For the People!!! You ass kissing and boot licking on a whole new level &I refuse to associate myself with something so vile, weak,& inconsiderate to the effect this has on the greater good of ALL OUR PEOPLE!!!! I’m a true believer in “It ain’t what you do,it’s how you do it.” And this shit is regurgitating🤮! At one time it was a pleasure to work alongside you... now, I’m ashamed to have ever been associated with you. To all the people who follow Ye musically, socially, or even personally....who are confused, heartbroken, infuriated.... Let me make this clear... THIS SHIT AINT COOL!!! THIS IS A MOVE YE MADE FOR YE!!! THIS IS A PLAY TO PUT HIM IN A POSITION HE’D LIKE TO SEE HIMSELF IN...WE ARE NOT ON HIS MIND AS HE MAKES THESE COMMENTS AND DECISIONS. Don’t follow this puppet. Because as long as I’ve lived I’ve learned that it benefits a man nothing at all to gain the world,if to do so he must lose his soul. We just saw Mr.West’s Soul on auction. If you listen closely you can hear the tears of our ancestors hit the floor. All I can say is... I’ve reached my limits. This is my stop,I’m officially DONE!!!! 🖕🏽Trump & His Lil Cookie Boy. #USorELSE✊🏽

Desiigner supports the duo

The rapper of the 2016 Billboard No. 1 hit record, “Panda,” who, on several occasions cited Kanye West as one of his influences, took to Twitter to share his thoughts toward the meeting. He tweeted, “ii [sic] loved the interview with Kanye and @realdonaldtrump.”

Glasses Malone

The Los Angeles rapper also extended his support. He especially liked Kanye’s petition to the President to pardon Larry Hover, the notorious founder of the Chicago street gang, Gangster Disciples, who is currently serving 200 years for orchestrating the death of a 19 -year-old. Kanye told Trump, "There’s infinite amounts of the universe and there’s alternate universe. So it’s very important for me to get Hoover out because in an alternate universe, I am him and I have to get him free."

Ebro Darden of 'Ebro in the morning'

The vocal media executive, earlier this week, claimed that he refused to arrange a meeting between President Trump and Colin Kaepernick at the request of Kanye West.

Michael Rapaport

The comedian and social commentator, in a short clip posted on Twitter, said, “Florida has over 13 million dollars of hurricane damages,” and instead of the president dealing with it, he decided to invite “goofball” West to the White House.

Yvette Nicole Brown

The American actress tweeted that West needs help, saying, “So many reasons. He needs help. Attention does not help. Attention doesn’t help either one of the them. And attention on them surely doesn’t help America.”
