Top 5 WWE opponents for Shawn Michaels' return to the ring

Over a year ago, fans could only dream about a match where Daniel Bryan got in the ring with AJ Styles in WWE. However, that match happened, as Bryan finally got cleared to compete in the squared circle. Fans certainly want to see two of the all-time greats in pro wrestling go face-to-face and see if HBK can halt the "Yes" movement. This would easily be a classic for fans everywhere.

One of the newer superstars in WWE who has dazzled and amazed fans is Seth Rollins. The Architect has battled the best there are including John Cena, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar. He hasn't really had the chance to go at it against Michaels, though. These two put on amazing spectacles in their matches so just imagine the two working together!

The Phenomenal One and The Heartbreak Kid haven't had the pleasure of crossing paths in a WWE ring. That's a shame because these are two of the best from the professional wrestling history books. Styles was always competing in another promotion while HBK was holding it down with WWF/WWE. If Michaels gets more than one match back, fans have to hope to see him test his skills against one superstar he absolutely must face.

On paper, Shawn Michaels looks seriously over-matched in this one, but so has every other opponent "The Beast" faces. Fans already know all it takes is one dose of HBK's "Sweet Chin Music" to level an opponent. Could the Showstopper KO Brock with that superkick, or would The Beast conquer another of WWE's all-time greats?

While he's loved and hated by fans everywhere, seeing the "Big Dog" take on HBK would be something special. Reigns has the size, raw power, talent, and is now Universal champ. He's considered one of the best in the business and shares a few common opponents. Reigns would definitely give HBK a true measuring stick just like the other four superstars on this list. Can Shawn still deliver in the ring against a star like The Big Dog?
