When the new allegations of spousal abuse surfaced earlier in September, teammate Anthony Rizzo seemed to support Russell.

Cubs manager, Joe Maddon isn't reading Russell's ex-wife's account

Maddon has been asked about the situation multiple times and has said he won't read Melisa Reidy's (Russell's ex) account until the situation has been resolved.

Russell's leave is up on Friday

Addison Russell could technically return to the Chicago Cubs on Friday (September 28), but it's expected that Major League Baseball will not let him.
