When you wake up in the morning, there are so many ways to get the latest news. There is Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and checking the official websites/apps of your favorite news outlets. Let's not forget the traditional newspaper, television news, and radio stations (they exist, at least to some). It’s not Easy to get heard, but social media is an outlet that proves it is not impossible to gain an audience.

Social media is fast becoming what the majority of people turn to for news. Just think of job searches. How many of us wait for the local paper to look for jobs?

The vast majority of people check Indeed, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other similar websites to find out who is hiring. I have experience with helping different organizations spread their message through social media. Here are some tips I learned that could help you.

Post regularly on your social media

Regardless of the social media platform, it is best to post regularly. That can mean anything from as little as once a week to several times a day. It all depends on which social media outlet you are using. Twitter is great for posting more frequently (there is no such thing as too many tweets), while it's best to post once a day on platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. It is important to change how you show your content.

You shouldn't always stick with the same format. You can share information through blogs, infographics, surveys or photos. Changing it up will keep your audience engaged.

Use all of the Internet

Sharing your content in an e-newsletter is another way to get more exposure. Websites and apps that find random things based on interest are also helpful.

Popular sites include Reddit, StumbleUpon, Pinterest, and Tumblr among others.

Think outside the Twitter and Facebook box. Don’t forget that sharing or tagging others involved with the content also helps. It provides more exposure to anyone who follows them! Remember to try posting at different times. Also, be quick and to the point.

Respect others time, and they will acknowledge it.

Marketing has grown, and the cost has gone down, but that also means more content is out there. Getting people to pay attention to you has become harder because it is easier to reach out to people.

That doesn’t mean it’s time to give up. Being up to date with the latest trends is important. In fact, the need for more social media managers has grown. Just continue to experiment and keep educating yourselves on trends.
