Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their third child on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 12:47 a.m. The new parents were in the delivery room with the surrogate to witness the birth first hand. The baby weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Kim says the baby is a healthy, beautiful baby girl.

Kim announced the happy news on her website on Tuesday. She posted two words: "She's Here!" Then she added that they are incredibly grateful to their surrogate for making their dream come true. She also thanked the wonderful doctors and nurses for the special care they offered.

Kim further added that North and Saint are thrilled to have a baby sister.

Since the first two children have unique names, people are wondering what the new baby's name will be since Kim did not post the name for the new baby yet. More than likely, the parents were waiting to meet their new bundle of joy before they decided on a name.

Family of five

The Wests have gone from a family of four to a family of five, which includes three children all under the age of five. The second daughter joins four-year-old North and two-year-old Saint.

Kim was open about why she and Kanye chose to use a surrogate for their third child.

Kim had two difficult deliveries with her first two children. She suffered from placenta accreta, a life-threatening condition she experienced when she gave birth to her second child, Saint. Kim followed her doctor's orders and did not take the chance of delivering another baby. Instead, she and Kanye decided to use a surrogate and it turned out well.

About the surrogate

Kim and Kanye were very pleased with their surrogate who lives in the San Diego area. Both parents were in the delivery room. Kim was the first to make contact with the baby girl and then Kanye held her. Kris Jenner and Kim's sisters were at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles but were not in the delivery room during the birth.

The delivery was a smooth one, and the surrogate and the baby are doing fine following the birth. Kim summarized the surrogate experience as quite different from carrying the baby herself. However, she said it is completely wrong for anyone to think it was easier. She described it as being so much harder because she was not in control. She concluded it was definitely a harder experience than the pregnancies of her older children when it comes to being in control.

Kim and Kanye's family and their many fans around the world are happy for them, and the congratulatory messages are pouring in for the 40-year-old rapper and the 37-year-old reality star.
