Jackass” was a very popular MTV series during the early 2000s. So much so that when the show ended in 2002, it spawned several movies and a few spin-off shows like “Viva La Bam,” which starred Bam Margera and “Wildboyz,” that featured Chris Pontius and Steve-O.

It’s been seven years since the release of its last movie – “Jackass 3.5.” There was a lot of speculations that “Jackass 4” was just on the horizon and even had a tentative title called “Jackass 4: We’re not Dunn Yet,” in honor of their fallen comrade Ryan Dunn.

However, the movie wasn’t able to take off the ground which left fans wondering why it never got made.

Here are the reasons why we never got to see “Jackass 4.”

Johnny Knoxville is too busy to make another 'Jackass' movie

Believe it or not, Johnny Knoxville is now a legitimate Hollywood movie star, appearing in movies such as “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “Men in Black II.” Being a Hollywood movie star kept him very busy from doing anything Jackass-related. We all know that Knoxville is the pivotal part of the group and without him; a “Jackass” sequel is never going to happen.

Meanwhile, the rest of the gang, namely Chris Pontius, Wee Man and Preston Lacy have taken the time to apply the “Jackass” concept to their live shows. Steve-O is now busy having a promising stand-up career and is reportedly ready to leave his “Jackass” days behind.

The death of Ryan Dunn

Dunn tragically died on June 20, 2011, just a few days after the release of “Jackass 3.5.” That faithful night, Dunn was reportedly drunk while driving his Porsche together with a passenger, Zachary Hartwell, and subsequently lost control of the car and crashed into a tree.

Both Dunn and Hartwell died on the scene.

Dunn’s death had a devastating effect on the cast and crew that made everyone reluctant to do another movie without him.

Bam Margera’s life spiraled out of control

Dunn was Bam Margera’s best friend, and his loss made Margera turn to alcohol after the tragedy. Margera developed a drinking problem so extreme that it almost cost him his life.

Due to the movie’s dangerous stunts, it was not wise to involve Margera in the movie as he was battling his own demons.

Right now, Margera is focusing on his sobriety and would rather ride his skateboard as much as he wants than perform crazy stunts have any commitments in Hollywood.
