Have you ever really had to use the bathroom, but really needed to shower at the same time? We’ve all been there. So tired or rushed, you just urinate while you shower to save time. Urine is sterile, right? Does that make Peeing while showering acceptable?

Is it acceptable?

When asking yourself if peeing in the shower is acceptable, then you need to put aside any preconceptions you have about the act. You’ve probably been told all your life not to do that and now someone is telling you it’s okay. Whether you’ve done it or not, it’s important to keep an open mind while you read this article.

I think it's something people may do and not admit to, but peeing in the shower just seems taboo, like stealing a candy bar or feeding someone something you dropped on the floor. Okay, maybe not that bad, but still there are actually some writers out there that have given good reasons for doing it and even saying it's acceptable. Let's see if you agree.

Saving money, water, and the environment

Two of the biggest reasons listed as positives for peeing in the shower are that it saves a lot on water. If you pay a water bill every month and want to see it go down then perhaps this is an easy way to make that happen. Saving water is good for the environment. You save a lot of water because you’re using the water to wash your body and wash away what comes from your body at the same time.

When you look at it that way, it seems to make a little more sense.

This means you'll also be using less toilet paper which in turn means the sewers won't have as many paper products floating in them. Not using as much water starts a chain reaction through many channels and saves the environment in all kinds of ways. You almost have to look at it as a necessity.

Why it's okay and cleaner

For one, urine is sterile and isn't toxic so it's not hurting anything, really. Using the toilet isn't always a clean process, there is going to be splash back and splash over. If you're peeing in the shower, you don't worry about anything but washing it down the drain.

It's all math, really

Toilets use a bit over one gallon of water for each flush.

If you have an older toilet it's more. Depending on how much you pee, you're letting a gallon of water go down every time, so if you think about it, doing two things at once just makes sense.

While it would be gross to encourage anyone to pee in the shower you can see the positives and negatives of doing it for yourself. Besides, who’s going to know if you do it?
