In addition to his personal Twitter account, now that he has been confirmed as the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump now has the official @POTUS account as his disposal. The president has selected Dan Scavino as his White House Director of Social Media, which includes the presidential Twitter account. The former caddie is in his early forties; he went on to become manager of the Trump National Golf Club Westchester.

The Independent states that Scavino has "repeatedly shared content from conspiracy theory websites and fake News organisations." Material from Alex Jones of InfoWars is reported to be among the purported fake news shared by the social media manager. Jones has made a name for himself making claims that Michelle Obama is male, that vaccination programs are part of an effort to cause a "soft kill," intended to murder millions of U.S. children, and that the government is encouraging homosexuality to reduce birthrates.
Trump tweets celebrate inauguration, supporters
Following his January 20 inauguration, the personal Donald Trump Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump, and the official @POTUS account, featured tweets celebrating his ascendance to the presidency and thanking his supporters and well wishers. Yesterday, Trump tweeted from his personal account about how his inauguration attracted 11 million more viewers than former President Barack Obama's second inauguration in 2013 did. The president stated that 31 million people tuned in to watch his inauguration in Washington, D.C.
This morning, both accounts, the POTUS and the personal Trump, tweeted with regard to the president's meeting with business leaders at 9 a.m.
ABC has reported that President Trump underlined the aims of new trade policies that will result in a "substantial border tax" for companies who move operations outside the United States and then want to ship goods back to sell in the U.S. market. Marillyn Hewson, chief executive officer of the Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT), and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA), were said to be on hand for the address, held in the Roosevelt Room of the White House.
Two Twitter accounts at President Trump's disposal
"All you have to do is stay," President Trump advised companies with plans to move business operations to other countries at this morning's address. In tweets, the president also commented on the uproar surrounding his inauguration, stating that "peaceful protests" are a hallmark of American democracy.
He explained that while he doesn't always agree with the motivations of protesters, he recognizes the right of citizens to "express themselves." Thousands of protesters descended on Washington and at least 50 other cities around the nation on Friday.
