Sad news for Hollywood as its official that Lena Dunham, actress and "Girls" creator and Jack Antonoff, "The Bleachers" frontman have split after 5 years together. The pair did have a friendly and mutual breakup last month with it only becoming public recently, confirmed to People.

Nothing has been said yet as to why the pair decided to call it quits after a really long time together. All that's being revealed is from a source who told E!News, "Jack and Lena were growing apart and it just made sense for them to end their relationship where it was."

The question on everyone's lips is what really happened?

Amongst admittedly gushing her love for him, adorable pictures all over her social media and marriage talk, it didn't seem like anything was amiss.

Lena Dunham and beau during happier times and in love

The couple has been together since 2012, according to The Metro. They met when they were set up on a blind date by Antonoff's sister, designer, Rachel Antonoff and comedian, Mike Birbiglia. Lena publicly admitted how happy and in love she was in her personal essays and social media.

Her Instagram is filled with pictures of them being adorable and quirky during their relationship.

The last photo of them on her Instagram account is shown below.

In a tribute to Jack featured in Variety on October 3, 2017, one of the things she wrote was "He showed me the importance of making political statements using your public platform.

He showed me the joy of collaboration." This reveals how much he inspired her and changed her life.

In an interview with E! News, she gushed about how in love she was, "I love my boyfriend. I'm very lucky to call him my life partner."

Their last appearance as a couple was at the Grammy's pre-party.

Lena Dunham tweet about the proposal

On November 1, 2017, she tweeted an honest and suspicious tweet about Jack planning a proposal with his sister. It seems she would've said 'yes' by mentioning what ring she wants in the comments section.

They were discussing getting married but Dunham didn't want anything to happen until marriage equality was a reality in all 50 states of America.

Dunham told Ellen Degeneres in 2015 during an interview, "I mean, we own a dog together, we own a home together, the marriage thing is a big deal."

Lena Dunham - big news on Twitter.

Some fans are upset about the break-up, whereas others aren't bothered and are happy about it.

A few fans even wonder what feminist thing Dunham will say about it all.
