There is no denying that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have been known for their effective portrayal as Jamie and Claire Fraser in the “Outlander” series. However, despite capturing the hearts of many TV viewers, the STARZ artists failed to nab this year’s Best Actor and Best Actress trophies at the 2017 Saturn Awards.

No trophies for the STARZ artists this year

Goldderby reported that “Outlander” fans were quite disappointed with the 2017 Saturn Awards results. While the popular STARZ series was able to get the Best Fantasy TV Series title, both Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe failed to get the Best Actor and Best Actress trophies.

“The Walking Dead” actor Andrew Lincoln and “Supergirl” actress Melissa Benoist bested Heughan and Balfe, respectively. According to the publication, a handful of fans were quite devastated by the results since they have expected the “Outlander” series to dominate the awards night alongside HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

To their dismay, “Outlander” only brought home with one trophy while “Game of Thrones” had failed to nab one of the awards this year. On behalf of the cast and crew of the popular STARZ series, executive producer Toni Graphia received the Best Fantasy TV Series award on Wednesday, June 28, in Burbank, California.

Aside from the Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe-led series, other 2017 Saturn Awards also included “Westworld” as Best Science Fiction TV Series, “The Walking Dead” as Best Horror TV Series, “Marvel’s Luke Cage” as Best New Media TV Series and “11.22.63” as Best TV Presentation.

Popular shows “Supergirl” and “Riverdale” were also awarded as the Best Hero TV Series and Best Action-Thriller TV Series, respectively.

Pair reportedly caught flirting

Meanwhile, Celebrity Insider has claimed that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were spotted flirting with each other during the Season 3 wrap party. According to the news outlet, the “Outlander” stars were seen soaked in water after they finished filming all the episodes of the upcoming third installment.

Because of this, fans cannot help but wonder if Heughan and Balfe could really be dating in real life. However, the STARZ artists have already made it clear that they do not have the same relationship fans see on TV.

“This is fantasy. This is our job. We are very different in our private life,” Caitriona Balfe stated to Entertainment Weekly.

Sam Heughan, for his part, has said that he is still getting used to people following both his public and personal life.

Despite this, dating rumors hounding Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have not died down yet. Hopefully, the “Outlander” Season 3 could confirm or deny all these speculations as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more news and updates!
