The Real returns on the Fox network on September 12, 2016, for its third season. The first two seasons had five co-hosts. Season 3 is down to only four. Tamar Braxton was fired at the end of the second season, and executives decided not to replace her. The upcoming season is hosted by four diverse and outspoken hosts. They are Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry-Housley. Each woman brings her own style of fashion, personality, and opinions to show.  This makes the daytime talk show as real as it can get.

The show is going into its third season geared toward young female viewers. The series is called The Real because the young co-hosts are known to speak what others are thinking. The format of the show is quite entertaining with different segments that keep their live audience and viewers from getting bored. The first segment is called "girl chat" where they all chime in and speak what they know about a certain topic. Then they interview well-known guests. The co-hosts play games with audience members and give away money and prizes. A favorite with fans is the life hacks segment where interesting and practical things are shared.
