2016 saw one of the most controversial Presidential elections in the history of the United States. In the corner of the Democrats was Hilary Clinton and on the side of the Republicans was Donald Trump. Each debate quickly turned into a platform for political mudslinging as both sides tried their hardest to tarnish the reputation of the opposing side for an edge in the race. Both candidates had huge followings at the time and Hilary Clinton was favored to win, but on November 8, 2016, the elections were held and Donald Trump won.

Leading in Electoral votes, Donald Trump was named President of the United States.

All the promises he promoted and the changes he said he would make would now come to fruition. His followers thought it was time to "make America great again". Trump is a very ambitious president but how great is Donald Trump?

Trump's legacy so far.

In Trump's first few month he didn't waste any time getting to work and even signed more executive orders than anyone before him in half a century. Some of these orders are good like withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, and some orders were not so good, like approving the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Keystone XL Pipeline. Both run the risk of contaminating the drinking water of Native American reserves. Trump's ambitions sometimes cloud his judgment.

Trump's hasty responses.

Being the president of the United States gives that person a plethora of powers and with great power comes great responsibility, but it seems that Mr.Trump didn't give Uncle Ben's words much thought. Donald Trump has put his power on display on numerous occasions. An example of this was when Trump ordered a raid in Yemen only a week into his presidency which resulted in the death of Navy SEAL Petty Officer Ryan Williams.

Trump blames the failure of the mission on the Generals.

Another example was when Trump ordered a MOAB (Mother of all Bombs) to be dropped in Afghanistan in an attempt to destroy a network of ISIS tunnels. That is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the U.S. military

To me, it seems that Trump has a disregard for correct procedures when it comes to handling serious issues, which brings me to my next point.

Trump Bombs Syria

Trump approved the firing of Tomahawk Cruise Missiles in Syria -- not against ISIS but in response to Bashar al-Assad who is the President of Syria after an alleged gas attack was supposedly ordered by Assad against his own his people.

To my mind, it didn't make sense for Assad to attack his people while being so close to victory. This needs more in-depth investigation. Too often Trump acts then asks question later.

In conclusion, Trump has made mistakes in the past and seems incompetent at times but no man is perfect and he still can right his wrongs. Trump still has three years as president left to do right by the country. However, we should consider that Trump's actions may have already determined his fate in the future.
