In his recent interview with the German website Golem.de, Shawn Layden, president, and CEO of Sony confirmed the existence of PlayStation 5.

On the other hand, in an interview with Gaming Bolt, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter claims that the next console will arrive in 2019. According to him, fans will have to wait a little bit longer since it will be backwards compatible with PS4.

There are also several claims from various fans that the Japanese gaming titan will follow the culture of mobile phones in releasing new iterations.

This means that Sony will release a new model every year, which wields to the 2018 release date.
