The rumors about the next iteration of the popular console have been hitting the web since 2016. However, Sony has not made any announcements related to it. In fact, in most interviews, several executives would rather downplay its existence. With the console’s arrival already confirmed, gamers are now wondering when will Sony make the console available.

In his recent interview with the German website Golem.de, Shawn Layden, president, and CEO of Sony confirmed the existence of PlayStation 5.

Release date predictions
The official release date of the upcoming gaming console is still elusive. However, there are other reliable sources that fans can rely on if they really want to have a definite release date. Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong has an impressive record of giving his predictions. The analyst believes that the highly anticipated console will be released in the later part of 2018. Thong holds the accurate predictions on the launch of PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.
On the other hand, in an interview with Gaming Bolt, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter claims that the next console will arrive in 2019. According to him, fans will have to wait a little bit longer since it will be backwards compatible with PS4.
There are also several claims from various fans that the Japanese gaming titan will follow the culture of mobile phones in releasing new iterations.
This means that Sony will release a new model every year, which wields to the 2018 release date.
Grand reveal
