Cisco is beefing up its cybersecurity portfolio, adding new enterprise-ready products. The US networking giant is about to receive a big update this week.

The San Jose, California-based company announced plans to combine its Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Stealthwatch, and Tetration into a single integrated data center solution. The goal is to provide a more effective protection for data center workload.

The tech giant claims that it is the only cybersecurity vendor that can protect workloads everywhere.

The planned integrated data center solution will include various capabilities and some major improvements, such as complete data center visibility. With Cisco Tetration, companies will now be able to detect vulnerabilities on servers by using the common vulnerabilities and exposure database. Using Cisco Stealthwatch’s threat classifier and machine learning tech, they can now track and pinpoint security breaches much faster.

Tetration gets a major upgrade

First introduced by Cisco in 2017, Tetration system provides companies a more effective way for monitoring and analyzing the data center. Tetration gathers data from hardware and software and then analyze it using big data analytics and machine learning technologies to provide IT managers a bird’s eye view of the company’s data center.

The company recently announced a major update for its Tetration data center analytics platform. It added additional layers of security tools to help IT administrators identify vulnerabilities and manage applications.

This week, Tetration is getting another huge update. The networking giant has added a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) version and virtual deployment option for customers who want to use Tetration platform for smaller deployments.

The newly announced Tetration SaaS is a cloud-based system for cloud-first enterprises. The new SaaS version will allow companies to deploy Tetration system quickly without having to worry about IT infrastructure. Tetration SaaS will be made available by next month.

In addition to Tetration SaaS, Cisco has also added a virtual deployment option for Tetration system.

The newly-introduced Tetration-V is a software-only version using a virtual appliance targeted at smaller deployments. The new system can run on both AWS and Microsoft Azure-powered public cloud deployments. But unlike Tetration SaaS, Tetration-V is now available on the market.

Thousands of Cisco's switches hacked

In other cybersecurity-related stories, around 200,000 Cisco network switches were reportedly hacked last week. The incident affected large internet service providers data center across the world, with hardest hit in Iran, China, Europe, India, Russia and the United States.

According to Bank Info Security, the overall impact of the cyberattack, including data loss, is not yet clear. Until now, it still not clears who carried out such massive cyberattack.
