HMD Global-funded nokia has explored both mid-range and high-end segments when it comes to smartphones. The firm launched Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 in the mid-range category. At the same time, they introduced Snapdragon 835-backed Nokia 8 in the high-end section. They plan on expanding their line-up of premium smartphones with another device named Nokia 9. According to Tech Radar, the Finnish tech giant is now working towards exploring the low budget category. They will be seen launching an entry-level model called Nokia 2. The report states that the handset may be priced at around $99.

Price

Nokia’s lowest-priced smartphone until now was the Nokia 3. It came for a price of $250. If the company does end up introducing Nokia 2 at $99, then it will be a whole $150 dollars cheaper than the cheapest offering by the company. Nokia is believed to target first-time smartphone buyers with the launch of this smartphone. Nokia will introduce two primary color variants, Black and White with Nokia 2. As for the specifications, the device is speculated to feature a 5-inch HD display. The front panel will further pack on-screen navigation buttons. This is the first time this year that Nokia is introducing such a feature. Rest of the other Nokia-branded smartphones feature capacitive touch buttons.

The smartphone will be powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset. Storage wise, users can avail 1GB of RAM along with 8GB of internal memory. Nokia is expected to introduce the option of expanding the device’s memory. The device will pack an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front camera.

Android smartphone

The smartphone is initially rumored to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. Later on, Nokia is expected to deploy the latest Android Oreo update. The device is rumored to be home to a massive 4,000mAh battery. The company won’t include a fingerprint scanning feature with this one. The device has already been spotted on a US-based online website called B&H.

Carrying the model number, “TA-1035,” the handset made its way on the official website of FCC last week. The Finnish giant is also rumored to be working for the launch of Nokia 9. It is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and will be unveiled in January 2018. The device will feature a camera system provided by the official Carl Zeiss technology. Its pricing and other details are not yet known.
