Hmd Global made a grand entry into the smartphone industry this year. The company first targeted the mid-range market first with the launch of 3, 5 and 6 smartphones. They also unveiled their high-end nokia 8 device. The company is now expected to expand its flagship portfolio with the introduction of yet another high-end smartphone. On the basis of speculations pointed out by Android Headlines, the upcoming handset will be called Nokia 9. Mockup images and alleged renders of the handset have now shown up online.

The speculated specs and features

These images reveal that the handset will feature a glass rear panel. The front panel of the smartphone is shown with a “full screen” form factor with extremely thin bezels. The fingerprint scanner will be placed right next to the dual camera module on the rear. The camera system will be supplied by the Carl Zeiss technology, as the two companies have signed up a contract. The rear camera module will be accompanied by an LED flash as well. The physical keys, including the volume rocker and the power button, can be found on the right-hand side of the device. At the same time, the SIM card slot is located on the left-hand side of the smartphone.

The official Nokia branding can be found on the front, right on top.

There are front-facing speakers as well. As noted by Phone Arena, since the device is shown to carry a glass panel, it is safe to assume that HMD Global might also integrate support for wireless charging technology. Even though all leaks hint to this possibility, there are still chances that Nokia might not join the bandwagon, which already includes Apple.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835

Previously, the handset was spotted on the official benchmarking website, GFXBench. The listing revealed that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip. Furthermore, the device may offer 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of inbuilt memory. The device was also shown to carry a completely bezel-less design on the front panel.

There is no word on its battery power as yet but Nokia has confirmed that its devices will be receiving the latest Oreo update soon. Therefore, it is safe to assume that Nokia 9 might carry the Android Oreo OS directly out of the box. As far as Nokia’s other offerings are concerned, the firm has already begun testing the software update for its smartphones. Fans will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the new product.
