Google’s latest Android platform, Android 8.0 Oreo launched on August 21. Despite the latest OS being available for two months, few OEMs have rolled out the OS to compatible devices. As Android users wait patiently for the latest OS to hit their handsets, it appears HTC U11 owners will benefit from the software update soon.

If the leak from tipster LlabTooFeR is to be believed, then the handset could benefit from the update in November. This means that the U11 would edge out other rival Android handsets such as Samsung’s Galaxy S8 series in the race.

Android 8.0 Oreo for HTC flagship in development

While previous leaks have pointed to the U11 getting a taste of Android Oreo by year end, LlabTooFeR’s tweet suggests that the update for the handset is in final stages of development.

This suggests that the OS could be pushed out to the flagship in November. However, the exact date for the rollout is shrouded in mystery. As the tipster revealed in his tweet, a possibility exists that HTC may push back Android 8.0 Oreo’s release for the U11 to early December.

Earlier in August, HTC had revealed that it would push out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the U11 in Q4 2017. Apart from the flagship, the HTC 10 and U Ultra are also slated to get updated to the latest Google OS. At the time, the Taiwan-based OEM also confirmed in a tweet that new products were in the pipeline.
