Google is expected to unveil Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 at an event on October 4. While the audience will get to see what to expect from the search giant next, they won’t be able to get their hands on the smartphones until much later. According to the latest report by VentureBeat, the company is going to delay the launch of its smartphones. Citing an industry insider familiar with Google’s plans, the report claims that Pixel 2 will be available for sale starting Thursday, October 19, but, Pixel XL 2 won’t be available for sale until Wednesday, November 15.
This is roughly a month’s gap between the two smartphone launches. There was no specific reason mentioned by the source. The phone will compete with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Apple iPhone 8 Plus.
Everything regarding Pixel XL 2
As pointed out by Tech Radar, Pixel XL 2 is a high-end smartphone. It is speculated to come with top features and will be comparatively more expensive than the Pixel 2. Google might have big plans for the XL handset. This may be what is causing a delay in terms of the launch. Delaying smartphone launches for sale seems to be the norm of this year. Even Apple delayed the shipping of iPhone X. In fact, the company’s fans aren’t even aware of when they might get their hands on the device.
Samsung and LG have maintained their discipline and introduced their respective devices almost immediately after announcing them. Take, for instance, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8. The South Korean giant announced the handset on 23rd August. The smartphone was made available for sale in its home country a week later. LG did the same.
The speculated release date
Google’s Pixel XL 2 is almost a month late. The true question is, will it be worth the wait? According to speculations mentioned by reports in the past, the handset is not going to have any significant changes in terms of design. Previously, the company was rumored to be integrating an edge-to-edge display.
Later these rumors were refuted. It is now established that the smartphone will come with a 6-inch display. The smartphone is f expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip. It comes with a single rear camera with a 16-megapixel sensor. On the front, there will be a 7-megapixel camera. The fingerprint scanner will be located on the rear panel of the handset. One of the main highlights of the device will be its OS. Google is expected to include Android Oreo in the Google Pixel XL 2.
