An unidentified Xiaomi smartphone has shown up on benchmarking website, GFXBench. The handset has been spotted a couple of times before as well. At that time, it was assumed that it is Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2 smartphone. Since Mi Mix 2 has already been revealed, the recently-spotted handset is now believed to be Xiaomi’s Chiron smartphone. According to a report by Android Headlines, Chiron will probably be another one of the high-end offerings by the company. Experts are led to believe this because of the premium specifications that the handset is carrying.

The device is speculated to release in the US also. Notably, the company recently launched the Mi Mix 2 in the US.

These are the speculated specs and features

The GFXBench listing reveals that Xiaomi’s Chiron is going to feature a 5.6-inch display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. On the storage front, the handset is expected to offer 6GB of Ram along with 256GB of inbuilt storage. GFXBench did not specify whether the users will have the option of expanding the smartphone’s memory. In the camera department, the handset packs a 12-megapixel rear sensor along with a 5-megapixel front snapper. The camera modules will be supported by a wide variety of features and technologies.

The list includes a separate Flash Unit, AutoFocus, HDR, Face Detection Support and the ability to record 4K content. Its video capabilities extend to support QXGA that boosts of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels resolution.

Phone could run on Android Nougat

As noted by Mobile Xpose, the smartphone is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with the company’s MIUI 9 skin on top.

Connectivity-wise, options like NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, the 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB Type-C port will be made available. There’s a heart rate monitor included along with the smartphone. Since the Chinese tech giant has already unveiled Mi Mix 2, it is believed that the upcoming smartphone might be the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus or Chiron.

There hasn’t been any confirmation from the side of Xiaomi as yet. Therefore, there are chances that this might simply be a prototype device and the firm has no intentions of releasing it this year. But these are only speculations and an official word from Xiaomi is yet to arrive. The company also launched the Mi Note 3 smartphone with mid-range specifications at its 11 September keynote. The pre-orders and shipping date for both the smartphones will be announced by Xiaomi soon.
