Apple Inc. first showed its Apple TV in late 2006 and released it in early 2007. The digital media player has gone through a more substantial change compared to any other product of the company in the past decade. However, Amazon decided not to sell the device on its website since 2015. Amazon removed the Apple TV from its store for the reason that the streaming device did not offer a Prime Video app.
Also, Amazon had to restrain themselves from unleashing a video app to Apple’s digital media player at that time, in order to keep the e-commerce company’s Fire TV popular.
Since the digital media player had no Amazon app, Prime consumers have to look for other alternatives, such as, using Roku and Fire TV to watch Prime Video on television.
Nonetheless, according to 9to5mac, Apple’s digital media player is back for sale on Amazon, which listed the 64GB model of Apple TV 4K for $199. The listing could be in line with the announcement of Tim Cook (Apple CEO) during the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, that Apple TV will support Amazon’s Prime Video app later this year.
The Cupertino-based tech company and Amazon had not announced the specific date when will the Prime Video app would be available for download on Apple’s digital media player. The Cupertino-based firm’s press release only stated that the app is coming soon.
Nonetheless, BEST Apple TV reported that their sources claimed that the app had been finished and it could be available for download this week in conjunction with the launch of the National Football League (NFL) games.
4K resolution capabilities
Meanwhile, the tech company announced its latest digital media player during its keynote event.
The new TV comes along with 4K resolution capabilities, Dolby Vision support, as well as high dynamic range. With the new device, the prices of 4K resolution motion pictures will be the same as HD films. Consumers can upgrade HD movies to 4K for free.
Device with A10X processor
The tech company redesigned the menus and screens of the new device to take advantage of the 4K resolution displays.
The new device is powered by Apple’s A10X chipset. The 32GB model of the Apple TV 4K is priced at $179.
The new device runs on the tvOS 11 operating system and it has even upgraded the Siri remote. The new version of the company’s streaming device has the capability to show video with sharper 4K resolution. The new digital media player is a simple curved black box that measures 1.4 x 3.9 x 3.9 inches and weighs 15 ounces. It supports audio streaming as well as AIrPlay screen mirroring from any iOS device.
