The social network, Pinterest, went from a visual pinboard platform to becoming a collection and storage tool. Today the company announced a new milestone as it crossed the 200 million user mark since its inception back in 2010.
Regardless of all the buzz that larger social media networks like Facebook, SnapChat, and others attract, Pinterest continues to be a force to be reckoned with.
According to the social media channel Pinterest, the categories to experience engagement and growth include the following: food, financial services, and auto. In regards to food, the platform recorded a 46 percent year-over-year increase for Users saving food related Pins.
On the other hand, financial services experienced huge growth. It was 85 percent whereas people saved 46 percent of auto-related Pins spanning the period of five months.

Overall, the platform has surpassed other feats beyond active monthly users. Conforming to Expanded Ramblings, the total number of Pins is 75 billion. It may have a smaller population of social media users, but it generates quite a bit of activity.
