Hmd Global-backed nokia launched 8 earlier last month. The device’s main highlight was its dual rear camera setup, with the official Carl Zeiss branding. The firm is now believed to be working towards the launch of Nokia 9. It will be the second flagship offering from the Finnish tech giant. Nokia hasn't made any mention of the handset as yet, but concept designers are producing artwork of what they think it will look like. The device will also be available in the US but still, the date of release is not confirmed.

Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 similarities

According to a report by Gizbot, Nokia 9 is going to be pretty identical to Nokia 8 in many ways. In the design department, the handset will carry a metallic body with curved edges. The firm plans on integrating slimmer bezels as well. The handset will also sport a dual rear camera setup powered by Carl Zeiss, which will be placed vertically. There is no word on its front camera up till now. Interestingly, at the time Nokia introduced its 8 smartphone, they did make a mention of a handset that sports a larger screen. The Company stated that they wish to, “meet the needs of absolutely all users.”

According to Gears Of Biz, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas says that they want to craft a flagship smartphone that balances premium design and experience.

As noted by Know Your Mobile, the important buttons will be placed on the sides of the handset. In comparison to Nokia 8, the handset features slightly larger buttons. The fingerprint scanner will be placed on the rear end, next to the camera module.

Price, specs, and features

The smartphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.

Nokia will offer two storage variants, 6GB and 8GB RAM, accompanied by 128GB of inbuilt storage. The handset will also include an iris scanner embedded in the front camera sensor. The company will also offer IP68 certification with Nokia 9, which makes the smartphone both dust and water resistant. On the pricing front, the handset might come for a starting rate of $800.

The device will equip either 3,200mAh or 3,500mAh battery and run on Android Nougat. Since Google only recently announced Android Oreo software update, Nokia might integrate it in Nokia 9 smartphone. Whether it will come running out-of-the-box or it will be provided via an over-the-air process, is yet to be known. The company will probably hold an event in October, but that is tentative.
