Apple unveiled its latest products on September 12, but the company’s biggest announcement was its highly anticipated iPhone X. The smartphone boasts a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED screen with 2,436 x 1,125 resolution.
The 10th year anniversary smartphone features an edge-to-edge display. The device is powered by the company’s own A11 neural bionic system on chip (SoC). The smartphone features wireless charging technology and has a glass body.
The pre-orders for Apple’s iPhone X will kick off on October 27 and will hit the shelves on November 3. However, the $1,000 price tag of the device has caused some controversy.
The Verge’s Ashley Carman claimed that Apple’s 10th year anniversary smartphone has an expensive price.
Bozoma Saint John (Chief Brand Officer at Uber) believes that the mobile device costs too much. Saint John was dismayed to realize how much the new mobile device would cost.
On the contrary, Business Insider’s Steve Kovach had some hands-on experience with Apple’s latest smartphone and he thinks that the handset is worth the price. Kovach was impressed with the smartphone’s 5.8-inch OLED screen and how well the iOS 11 operating system works on the device.
The senior director at IHS Markit, Ian Fogg, stated that the 10th year anniversary handset will still sell in huge volumes, CNBC reported.
Several other analysts claimed that smartphone enthusiasts will complain, but they will eventually purchase Apple’s latest mobile device.
Device's supply problem
Meanwhile, KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, speculated that the iPhone X will probably cause the Cupertino based tech company to confront supply and demand imbalances.
The KGI Securities analyst claimed that there will be far more individuals who would want to purchase the smartphone than the tech company’s supply chain can manage. If Kuo’s prediction turns out to be true, the shipping of the iPhone X might be delayed.
Some tech analysts have shared their speculations on why the tech company is having supply issues.
First, the company might be looking for other OLED display suppliers. Also, there’s been a huge demand for flash storage.
Smartphone’s specs
In spite of that, the iPhone X features a dual camera setup, Dolby Vision, HDR 10, True Tone display, Wide color display (P3), 3D Touch, fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and a facial recognition technology. The battery life of the new device lasts up to 2 hours longer compared to the iPhone 7.
