After Apple launched its latest iPhones, Google is now preparing to roll out its highly anticipated Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. The search engine giant might officially announce its next-gen Pixel devices on October 4.

The tech company released a teaser video for the next-gen Pixel smartphones. The video asks if smartphone users are tired of their handsets and asks the users to get ready on October 4. Although the teaser video does not show Google’s upcoming mobile device, but it does tease the handset by showing an animation of individuals typing in questions about their smartphone.

The Verge reported that the search engine titan has already sent out the invitations for its event on October 4, which could mean that Google will announce its new handsets during the event. However, the famous tech leaker, Evan Blass, has tweeted that Google’s new generation mobile devices will be unveiled on October 5.

The launching of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones is not coincidental, considering the Cupertino based tech company will start taking pre-orders for its newly-launched iPhones in just a few hours. This is Google’s attempt to hold off smartphone enthusiasts and think about the company's new handsets.

Camera features

Nonetheless, the camera of the Pixel 2 is expected to feature a laser-detect autofocus, which would help the rear sensor to capture better videos and images in low-light conditions.

The smartphone is also anticipated to arrive with the Google Lens software feature.

Handset with Snapdragon 835 processor

Speaking of the device’s storage, the handset is expected to arrive with a 64GB and 128GB variants, according to Express. The storage configuration is higher compared to last year’s 32GB base models. The smartphone might be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with a 4GB of RAM.

The smartphone will feature a 5.0-inch Full HD display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In terms of software, Google's smartphones will run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The upcoming devices will feature an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

Apart from this, Google's next-gen mobile devices will arrive without the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The tech company might launch the smartphones with wireless earphones, which will be powered by Google Voice Assistant.

Aside from the smartphones, Google is also expected to announce its new Google Home Speaker during the event.
