With Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro and Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One X gaming console, the discussion in the tech world is not just about 4K video resolution anymore. The HDR technology seems to become a key feature, as it allows a person to see a greater range of colors.

The HDR support of Netflix for its 4K streaming plan features two mobile devices, Sony's Xperia XZ Premium and LG's newly-launched V30 smartphone.

Nonetheless, the smartphone count will soon be added.

According to SamMobile, Netflix made it known that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 phablet will feature HDR content through the entertainment company’s app. Samsung rolled out its Galaxy S8 series and Note 7 with HDR support, but the entertainment company failed to support viewing HDR content on those smartphones. It appears that the Note 8 will be the South Korean tech company’s first mobile device to feature Netflix 4K HDR content streaming.

Sony Xperia XZ1 with Netflix HDR support

According to Pocket Lint, although Sony has yet to release its Xperia XZ1 Android smartphone, but those planning to own the handset will be pleased to know that its users will be able to stream their favorite films and TV series in spectacular HDR quality.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 smartphone will also get the Netflix HDR support.

Netflix streaming plans

However, Netflix features three streaming plans, the Basic plan ($8 a month), Standard plan ($10 a month), and the Premium plan ($12 a month). In order for a person to access Netflix 4K HDR on their handset, that person needs to have a Premium subscription.

Meanwhile, Samsung kicked off the Galaxy Note 8 pre-orders last week. However, it appears that the shipment date (September 15) of the smartphone has been just a formality.

Wherein, several individuals are claiming that they received the device as early as September 5. Individuals who pre-ordered the handset from Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and directly from Samsung, made it known that their devices have either arrived or started shipping.

In spite of that, the mobile device sports a 6.30-inch touchscreen display with 1440 x 2960 pixel resolution. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, paired with a 6GB of RAM and a 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB through a microSD card. The mobile device is equipped with an Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system, 3300mAh non-removable battery, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and NFC.
