An unidentified Asus smartphone that went by the name of “Ontario” showed up online on several occasions. The last leak about the smartphone took place last week. The company has now officially launched the smartphone but it is called, “ZenFone V.” The device is a Verizon-exclusive handset and reflects the mid-level design and hardware features. The smartphone is tagged with a single rear camera with dual LED flash and Corning’s Gorilla Glass on the front panel. The official Verizon branding is placed on the rear panel. Physical buttons including the power and volume up and down options are located on the right-hand side.
While the capacitive button is located on the display. Along with it is the fingerprint scanner. The Asus Zenfone V comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack situated alongside USB Type-C port and a single loudspeaker on the bottom side of the device. The company has made both, microSD as well as nanoSIM cards available for use.
Device's specs and features
According to a report by Tech Droids, the handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset, consisting of four Kryo CPUs and overclocking speeds of 2.2GHz. The device further has Adreno 530 GPU for graphics purpose. In the storage department, the smartphone offers 4GB of RAM along with 32GB of inbuilt memory. Users also have the option of expanding the memory via the microSD card-slot option.
The device further packs a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. The display is supported by Tru2Life technology for apt brightness. The handset is home to a 3,000mAh battery that is non-removable by nature.
Phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat
ASUS has included the support for a USB Power Delivery 2.0 protocol that allows for faster charging, a report by Android Headlines states.
On the camera front, the device features a 23-megapixel rear sensor with Sony’s IMX318 technology, Phase Detection, AutoFocus, Laser tech and a dual LED flash. On the front panel, there’s an 8-megapixel sensor with Image Stabilization. The ZenFone V will run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box. It is known when Asus will release the latest Oreo update for this smartphone.
There’s the company’s proprietary ZenUI 3.0 to run on top. Lastly, the firm has integrated its handset with a special Smart AMP technology from NXP. This ensures a good, qualitative audio experience. There is no word on the price of the handset as of yet.
