Apple is going to unveil its 10th-anniversary flagship device at a special event in California on 12 September. The firm hasn’t confirmed its official name as yet, and neither have they mentioned how many devices they will be introducing. According to a report by Daily Mail, sources close to the matter suggest that the company will be launching not one – but three iPhone devices. The first one that will mark the special occasion is going to be named, “iPhone X,” while the other two will be called “iPhone 8,” and “iPhone 8 Plus,” respectively. If this turns out to be true, then Apple will seemingly skip the “S” generation of smartphones this year.
The availability of the phone
As noted by Daily Mail, iPhone X will be made available for purchase, starting September 22 in the US and other European countries. The 12 September launch event was confirmed when Apple began sending press invites for it on September 1. The latest leak emerges from Dutch-based tech-website, iCulture as stating the information from a “reliable source.” The same source had also once predicted that Apple was working on bringing the 10.5-inch iPad Pro back into the market and it turned out to be true. It has now become very difficult to believe any one speculation regarding the device. Previous sources have claimed that the smartphone will be called “iPhone Edition,” and not “iPhone X.” The company is also expected to introduce the third-generation Apple Watch and a new 4K TV.
The image of the device is leaked online
Additional information regarding the alleged “iPhone X” was posted on Twitter by leaker Benjamin Geskin. He on August 20, took to his account to reveal the handset as featuring an OLED display cover. Apple has long been in the news, for having to switch from LCD technology to OLED. The company is in talks with Samsung Displays for the manufacturing of the same.
The image also showcased the smartphone as missing the physical home button.
The Touch ID is speculated to be replaced by the facial recognition technology. There is a high possibility that the smartphone might feature an under-the-display fingerprint scanner as well. “iPhone X” is expected to pack glass front and back panels with additional protection provided by the 2.5D curved sheet.
It will be powered by the latest A11 chipset and will run on IOS 11. This year’s iPhone is going to be revolutionary and will arrive with a hefty price-tag as well. Its prices are expected to begin around $1,000.
