Apple is going to unveil its iPhone 8 on Tuesday, 12 September at Steve Jobs Theater, California. The device is expected to carry a hefty price-tag and a major overhaul in terms of design and specs. The first batch is speculated to hit the markets by mid-October. There’s intense debate on what the handset will be called – with some suggesting iPhone 8, and others calling it iPhone Edition.

The most expensive iPhone so far

Major flagship smartphones this year has experienced a surge in terms of their prices. Take, for instance, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which comes at $930 in the US.

Apple will also launch its iPhone 8 at a similar price. According to a report by Tech Radar, the current rumor claims that the handset might cost $1,100. This makes it roughly 58percentt more expensive than its predecessor – iPhone 7. It also makes the device as expensive as a MacBook Pro laptop.

Design of the phone

As noted by Forbes, most speculations have indicated that the handset will sport a 5.8-inch screen, edge-to-edge AMOLED display. The company is apparently in touch with Samsung Display, for the purpose of manufacturing their AMOLED screens. Plus, they have long been rumored to adopt a bezel-less front panel look for iPhone 8. KGI Securities analyst and Apple specialist, Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that the handset will pack a 2.5D curved-edge glass for added protection.

With this, the firm also plans on eliminating the physical home button option. Instead, they will opt for a facial recognition feature.

A variety of leaksters have all indicated that Apple plans on introducing wireless charging with iPhone 8. The smartphone’s camera will also be given significant importance. A vertically-placed dual camera will be placed on the back, which will further come accompanied with Augmented Reality-supporting apps.

Both, the front and the rear sensors will have 3D abilities.

According to a report by BGR, the handset will house the latest A11 chipset, with IOS 11 running on top. The performance is expected to improve exponentially. IOS 11 is going to bring an array of new features and applications. For instance, the user interface of Apple’s App Store will change completely.

Owners will have access to a wide variety of emoticons. The firm has even joined hands with Google, to bring Google Now and improve its keyboard prediction settings. Custome have to wait a bit more for the device.
