Xiaomi’s upcoming phone Mi Mix 2 is set to launch on September 12. The phone might have a 3D facial recognition system instead of a fingerprint scanner. The facial scanner has become more popular with Samsung’s S8 and looks like Xiaomi will be adopting it too.

Phone to have dual sim

According to Gadget 360, it will be a bezel-less device. The phone might feature a 6.4-inch screen AMOLED display with the 2K resolution. The device t is expected to run on the 1.9 GHz octa- core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the same chipset which is available on OnePlus 5 and Galaxy S8.

The phone is said to have two variants, one will have 6GB of RAM with 128 GB of internal storage, while the other one will sport 8GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage. The better the RAM, the faster the performance of the phone. The 6GB model would cost around $599, while the 8GB model would cost around $749. Both the models of the phone will be launched in September itself.

The Mi Mix 2 also has a graphic processor and runs on latest 7.1 Android System and is powered by 5300 mAh battery. Being a dual-sim phone, it has connectivity options like GPS, Hotspot, Wifi, and Bluetooth. The phone acquires a 12 megapixel back camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies with OmniVision OV5675 sensor.

The back camera comes with Auto Focus, Face Detection, HDR, Touch Focus, Digital Zoom, and Video Recording.

Ceramic and metal design

The phone might have same ceramic and metal design which was used in its earlier phones. Meanwhile, the display of the phone will be huge and will cover the entire front area of the phone. It is also rumored that the panel of the phone will slightly be curved.

Apart from that, it said that the ultrasound technology might replace the proximity sensor on the front screen of the phone. This will allow the phone’s screen to go black when the user answers the call. By using this technology, Xiaomi will also ditch the bezel on the top of the device and further also from the bottom of the device.

Collaboration with French designer

Xiaomi founder Lei Jun is working with the French designer Philippe Starck, who designed the Mi Mix. Both of them are working together to create a better product with some unique features this time. The phone’s launch will reveal the final product and the price soon. Xiaomi has so far made a good progress in the market and it hopes to do the same with its upcoming phones as well.
