The Smart speakers market is continuously getting bigger with Google and Amazon as the leaders in this segment. Sonos and Amazon are reportedly working together in order to enhance the smart-speaker experience. Sonos is planning on adding Digital Assistant Alexa’s abilities to its smart-home speakers. The company took to its official blog website in order to make this announcement. While the firm did not directly make any mention regarding this major update, the details regarding the same were discovered in the product’s privacy statement policies.

The company is hoping to bring these products to the table before the end of 2017.

Everything you need to know

As noted by Android Headlines, it doesn’t come across as a surprise that Sonos has finally integrated Amazon Alexa’s skills into its line of Internet Of Things-connected products. In February this year, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Patrick Spence made Sonos’ intentions of launching newer products with Alexa abilities very clear. The updated section on Sonos’ blog post even talks about the step-by-step process of how one can turn the digital voice assistant on, and what happens when they actually do.

Features and design details

According to a report published by The Verge, Alexa is expected to be integrated into most of Sonos' products towards the end of this year.

It appears that Sonos smart-home speaker owners will soon be able to make use of AI’s assistance in most of their daily chores. They will be able to assign tasks to their smart home speakers. For example, users can tell the speaker to play a particular song or even make hotel bookings.

Through the Sonos official blog post, it has also been revealed that the company plans on using the assistance of many other Artificial Intelligence products in the future.

Other lists of digital assistants include Google Assistant. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t clarified whether they will release the digital assistant feature through a software update or not. There are also chances that Sonos might manufacture newer products, and get the device integrated with the Alexa digital assistant.

Meanwhile, Google is working towards launching a newer version of its smart-home speaker, Google Home. The company is expected to take the wraps off the 2017 successor in either October or November this year. Stay tuned for more news, rumors and updates on technology.
