After the impressive launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ phablets, people now have their eyes set on the next-generation Galaxy smartphone, possibly dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy S9. Although it’s too early to talk about the possible Samsung Galaxy S9 specs, features, release date or price, a lot of information about the handset is already making headlines.

What S9 may offer in terms of specs and features

According to a report coming from Forbes, the upcoming phablet might come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the United States.

The international variants of the device are likely to feature Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 SoC. It is expected that Qualcomm's future flagship system-on-chip (SoC), which will reportedly be built on the 7nm process, will be 30 percent more powerful as compared to the current 835 SoC. A Samsung smartphone with model number SM-G9650 was also recently spotted listed on Geekbench website.

As far as the display is concerned, the Galaxy S9 is rumored to come with a 5.8-inch panel display with a 1440p resolution. Its larger sibling, the S9+, is expected to feature a bigger 6.2-inch display panel. The AMOLED screen technology for the upcoming smartphones has been reportedly codenamed as “Sunflower,” Android Headlines reported.

Both the handsets will come with minimal bezels that the South Korean tech giant markets as the Infinity Display. The display panel itself will have rounded edges. The next Samsung Galaxy handset is rumored to be powered by the latest Android Oreo version 8.0 operating software and feature at least 6GB or 8GB of RAM.

Upcoming phablet to get a dual rear camera setup

According to KGI technology analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the Galaxy S9, and S9+ will feature dual rear cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS) the same as is found in the recently launched Galaxy Note 8. The LED flash is likely to be positioned between the dual camera sensors.

Notably, the Galaxy Note 8 is the first ever Samsung smartphone to come with a dual-camera set-up - a 12MP wide-angle and 12MP telephoto lens. It still remains unknown if Samsung will use the same 12MP rear camera on the upcoming handset. Kuo also claimed that the next-gen Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phablets will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Talking about the Samsung Galaxy S9’s release date, it is expected that the phablet in will be launched during the MWC 2018 event. The premium Galaxy handsets are likely to be priced at around $900 to $1000.

It is to be noted Samsung has not yet officially announced anything about Samsung Galaxy S9 specs, features, release date or price.
