Xiaomi launched its flagship offering, the Mi Mix towards the end of 2016, taking the market by a storm. Fans of the company were delighted to know that Xiaomi was working on its successor, scheduled to launch towards the end of this year. While Xiaomi hasn’t provided any details regarding what the Mi Mix 2 is going to feature; leaks regarding the device have pretty much given away the important details. It will go head-to-head with samsung galaxy S8 and upcoming Apple iPhone 8.
The latest leak appeared on the Chinese social media website, Weibo in the form of pictures taken of the alleged device.
The leak was shared by an unidentified Weibo user and revealed the device presents a completely bezel-less appearance. According to a report published by Gadgets 360, the leak also further confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 is going to feature a 3D facial scanning feature.
Specs and features
The smartphone in the Leaked picture can be seen with a head-shaped outline on the front panel – which is believed to be a cut-out made for the facial recognition feature. The user accompanied the image with a caption that further confirmed the speculation that the Mi Mix 2 will arrive with the 3D facial recognition scanner. It is interesting to note that a similar design was spotted in one of the leaked alleged renders of the Apple iPhone 8 as well.
Apple is also rumored to be planning on adding a facial recognition feature over the fingerprint scanner, in its upcoming iPhone 8, which is scheduled for launch next month. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is also expected to pack the same kind of a feature. However, the information has not been confirmed by any of the companies as yet.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
This isn’t the first time that leaks regarding Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 have been spotted online. A recent Geekbench listing suggested that the handset is going to feature a 6.4-inch QHD display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution, and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip. The smartphone will offer 6GB of RAM along with 128GB of internal storage.
The device is also expected to arrive with a special 256GB internal storage option as well. The smartphone is further rumored to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and will in all probability have a dual rear camera setup with 19-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors respectively.
