An unidentified Xiaomi smartphone – believed to be the Redmi Note 5A was recently spotted on the official TENAA website. This spotting seems to have been followed by an alleged Weibo announcement made by the Chinese technology giant itself.On 16 August Xiaomi took to its official Weibo social media platform to tease the upcoming Redmi Note 5A. The firm published a post which doesn’t provide too many details regarding the device but seems to confirm that there is something good happening on August 17.
Details regarding specs and features
According to information provided through TENAA, it seems that the Redmi Note 5A smartphone is going to feature a 5.5-inch display.
In fact, Redmi Note 5 is also speculated to carry the same specifications in terms of display. Both the smartphones have been mentioned to house a 3,000mAh battery with the latest version of Android running on top. These are the specifications that will be identical in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5A.
This is where the differences begin - the less expensive version of the two smartphones is rumored to be powered by a quad-core system-on-chip, with clocking speeds at 1.4GHz. According to a report published by 91 Mobiles, the smartphone might end up being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. Storage-wise, the smartphone is expected to offer 3GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage as well.
On the camera front, the device might feature an 8-megapixel rear cam. However, the pricier version of the smartphone will come powered by an octa-core processor, with clocking speeds at 1.4GHz and this is expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 system-on-chip. Storage-wise, the device might offer 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage.
On the camera front, the smartphone might have a 13-megapixel rear camera with no details regarding the front camera as yet. As far as the connectivity of the two smartphones are concerned, the device is expected to support 4G LTE networks.
Color options with the device
A report by Android Headlines suggests that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A might be available in nine color variants including Black, Rose Gold, Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Gray, and Silver. Both the smartphones will probably be available to the Chinese market first. A global roll-out is expected thereafter, however, at this time there has been no confirmation on this from Xiaomi.
