Based on a couple of Nokia 8’s benchmark tests, the flagship smartphone appears to be the beast in the imaging department. The GFX Bench result of the handset showed off a 12MP Carl Zeiss rear dual camera setup. Nonetheless, a new GeekBench listing showcased the mobile device running Android 8.0 software build.
Nokia 8 Android smartphone running the Android 8.0 software build suggests that the handset would be the first smartphone with Google's latest mobile operating system. However, according to BGR, it is unclear whether Nokia’s flagship mobile device will run Android O out of the box.
But, as the smartphone would be unveiled on August 16, while Google’s operating system will likely release around the same time, the Nokia 8 would likely roll out with the OS.
The latest version of Google's mobile operating system will be the smartphone’s edge over Samsung’s upcoming phablet, considering the Galaxy Note 8 would probably be available with Android Nougat.
Specs of the smartphone
Aside from Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android Headlines reported that Nokia’s upcoming flagship will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with a 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of built-in storage, expandable through a microSD card slot. The Nokia 8 is expected to arrive with three variants, with each of the models will boast different amounts of RAM.
All of the variants will come along with a 3,800mAh battery, with support for quick charging technology.
The smartphone is expected to arrive with a 5.3-inch QHD display panel with 2,560 by 1,440-pixel resolution protected by 2.5D glass. The screen of the device is likely of the LCD variety and would have a little room for side bezels. The handset’s international variant is expected to come along with a hybrid SIM setup and all versions should have a fingerprint sensor in the physical Home button.
Handset’s color variants
Industry experts are expecting the smartphone to be made available in five color options, Blue, Black, Copper and Copper-Gold. The Finnish company has yet to announce whether all variants will be sold across the globe.
Based on the recently leaked renders, the branding of Nokia is spotted on both sides of the mobile device. Several insiders claimed that the Nokia 8 will be IP68-certified.
HMD Global has already sent out press invites for a new product launch event on August 16. The Finnish company could release the high-end handset in September.
